03/09/2007 - Oklahoma City, OK (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The third-seeded and 15th-ranked Texas Longhorns being their quest for their first ever Big 12 Tournament title tonight, as they tangle with the 11th-seeded Baylor Bears in the quarterfinal round at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. The winner of this contest will earn the right to face either Texas A&M or Oklahoma State in the semifinals on Saturday.
For the eighth time in head coach Rich Barnes' nine years at Texas, the 'Horns have secured a first-round bye in the Big 12 Tournament, as they finished a solid 12-4 in league play. Texas owns an 11-10 all-time mark in this event and it has reached at least the semifinal round in seven of its 10 appearances. The 'Horns have even made it as far as the finals on three occasions, including last year, but they have yet to capture the crown.
As for Baylor, it finished second-to-last in the Big 12 during the regular season at 4-12, but that didn't stop it from stunning sixth-seeded Missouri, 97-83, in the opening round of this event on Thursday. It was the first Big 12 Tournament win since 2001 by the Bears, who improved to 5-9 all-time in the event.
As far as the all-time series is concerned, Texas owns a commanding 150-75 advantage over Baylor and it has won the last 19 meetings between the two schools.
The Bears shot a blistering 63.0 percent from the field, including a 9-of-15 effort from long distance, as they upset Missouri in the opening round on Thursday. Curtis Jerrells erupted for a career-high 31 points for Baylor, while Henry Dugat added 25 points and six assists. On the season, Jerrells is the squad's top scorer with 14.9 ppg and he is also dishing out a team-best 3.8 apg. Kevin Rogers adds 12.9 ppg and a team-high 7.7 rpg to the mix, while Dugat contributes 11.7 ppg and 4.2 rpg. As a unit, Baylor is turning in a solid 75.5 ppg on 46.3 percent shooting from the field this season.
Despite starting four freshmen on a regular basis, the Longhorns have had another strong campaign and they are one of the top scoring teams in the nation, averaging a healthy 82.9 ppg on 45.4 percent shooting from the floor and 40.4 percent from beyond the arc. Leading the way for Texas is rookie sensation Kevin Durant, who was recently voted the Big 12 Freshman and Player of the Year. Durant, a unanimous all-league selection, has done it all for Texas in his rookie campaign, as he leads the team in scoring (25.1 ppg), rebounding (11.4 ppg) and steals (54). The versatile forward had a Big 12- record nine 30-point games during the regular season and he also set a new record for scoring average in conference play at 28.9 ppg. A.J. Abrams ranks second on the team in scoring with 15.1 ppg and he is shooting better from long range (.429) than from the field overall (.396). D.J. Augustin, another talented freshman, earned Second Team All-Big 12 honors after averaging 15.0 ppg and a team-high 6.8 apg during the regular season.

NFL Football Betting : Odds on NFL Division to Win the Super Bowl
The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds. But more down to the point, these football odds are in favor of the Indianapolis Colts, by far the strongest team in the AFC South, and the Dallas Cowboys of the NFC East.
Most sports fans would agree that these two teams top the list to win it all before the season even begins. In the BetUS Sportsbook football futures, the Colts are +800 in the odds to win the Super Bowl, while the Cowboys are sitting at +1000 and the Super Bowl XLIV champions New Orleans Saints at +900. In the AFC South, the Colts won the division for five straight years after the 2002 realignment, before the Tennessee Titans won it in 2008. But the Colts came back strong in 2009 to win the division again en route to the Super Bowl. The Cowboys are the favorite to win the NFC East, as well as to advance far into the post season. The Cowboys won the division last season before their horrendous loss in the NFC Divisional playoff to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. But the ‘Boys will take that loss humbly and be ready for the playoffs this time around.
The NFC South is also very strong, at +600 in the NFL futures, considering that it is home to the defending Super Bowl champions. However, some predictions have the Atlanta Falcons with possibilities of claiming the divisional title this season in place of the Saints, as no team has won back-to-back division championships since the division realignment took place. Let’s not overlook the AFC North at +500. As TO goes to Cincinnati to join Chad OchoCinco and Adam “Pac-Man” Jones, this team looks to claim the division title again. And it is likely they will do so. The Bengals lost in the AFC Wild Card spot in a hard-fought battle against the New York Jets last season. Lest not forget the Pittsburgh Steelers, the XLII Super Bowl Champions… All these teams present interesting odds and matchups for the upcoming season, but the safest and surest bet seems to be with the Colts in the AFC South and the Cowboys in the NFC East.
