Braves' Hampton may miss two months

It was the veteran left-hander's elbow that was the cause for concern heading into the spring, as Hampton was in the final recovery stages from Tommy John surgery that he had some 17 months ago.
He was expected to test the surgically-repaired left elbow from the mound on Saturday, but now may be out of action until mid-May.
Hampton had X-rays taken on Thursday, which showed that he did not break a rib as first feared. The recovery time for this injury may actually be longer, though, as Hampton may not be able to play catch for another month.
The 34-year-old Hampton hasn't been healthy since May of 2005, when he began feeling discomfort that eventually led to the Tommy John surgery.
